India Launches Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 Campaign Nationwide with Focus on Collective Action

The campaign emphasizes collective action for a cleaner India, with activities being conducted across government offices, railways and communities.

In Arunachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Pema Khandu joined a school cleanup activity as the campaign began, marking the start of youth-focused efforts under initiatives such as “Swachh Paathshala – Yuva for Swachhata.” The initiative aims to instill waste management habits among young people.

The nationwide campaign will include a shramdaan on October 1, while special events are planned for Swachh Bharat Diwas. The 2026 campaign builds on last year's participation, when 18 crore people took part in Swachhata Hi Seva activities.

With programmes extending across institutions, railway facilities, schools and communities, Swachhata Hi Seva 2026 will continue through October 2, keeping public participation and collective cleanliness efforts at the centre of the campaign.
